Charred Geometric "Commode" Nightstand

A single drawer modern interpretation of the traditional bedroom mainstay is rendered in charred Loblolly Pine; with mitered edges, the undulating texture wraps the case in deep color. Charring evolved from the traditional roots of ancient Japanese wood construction, which emphasized a need for rot and bug tolerance while maintaining a consistent structural integrity. This was a Custom table for Kari McIntosh’s “Lararia Guest Refuge” in the 2018 San Francisco Decorator Showcase.
