Vintage Satsuma "Thousand Flowers" (Millefleur) bowl on a rosewood stand likely from the Japanese Meiji period (late 19th to early 20th century). Cream-colored earthenware (pottery) with a fine crackle glaze, floral decoration with overglaze enamels and gilding. Intricate interior decoration, known as Hyakka-mon. The bowl features a large, vibrant pink peony at its center, symbolizing wealth, honor, and feminine beauty in Japanese culture. Surrounding this are a dense, "millefiori" (thousand flowers) arrangement of chrysanthemums, daisies, and plum blossoms. Each flower is meticulously hand-painted with polychrome enamels and outlined in fine gold gilding.
